Annual Banquet, Sunday October 23rd
The Annual Banquet yet again proved to be an event to remember. Awards for swimmers in various categories were awarded, as well as 10 year parent volunteers this year.
Lots of awesome pics on the facebook page! Look for the full report in the next few days!
Our first Black and Gold event of 2016 happened on Sunday October 30th at McMaster from 8:15 to 10:00 am.
The Official Announcement of the teams was announced DURING our banquet night, where teams faced each other in a dance off. The boys from the GOLD team took away the lead with their awesome dance skills. That gave Gold the beginning lead.
The Facebook war was so hilarious with pics, raps and witty comebacks all around.
The October 30th event will have a Halloween theme... and as every year, each team could score most points if have the best original costume, cheer and if are the loudest in the pool.
The competition, consisting of 25 free, 25 back, a relay and a GAME!!! was very tight with Black wrenching the title from last year's GOLD winners.
With Coaches Susie, Priscy, Theresa and Alison leading the BLACK; and Melanie, Lisa, Mike and Sam leading GOLD it was an exciting and fun time!!. Competition was fierce, with outstanding sportsmanship and good humour.
First Novice Meet of the Year.
The first novice meet of the season was held on the 27th and it was a great success, with HAC hosting the Brantford Aquatic Club. There was a sea of Black and Gold with a record 70 novice swimmers present at the Ancaster Pool!
No swim meet can happen and happen well without volunteers. A big shout of Thanks to everyone who helped, beginning with Doris Forrester, who managed the meet for the first time.
"The HAC novice parents really stepped up for this meet with so many willing to participate actively. The timers, strokes and turn, starter (Anita’s first time as starter and you were amazing), marshals (amazing organization without a sound system) and the concession/program sellers helped make the first meet, a huge success.
Scott Hunt was our session referee and we want to thank him for bringing and storing all the equipment and for just being there, it eased my mind knowing his were there.
Lisa Hodge – the best mentor/teacher I could ask for. She dedicated many hours (at Starbucks) helping me navigate this process and I loved my checklist. Thank you for always giving your time.
Our level 5 meet referee Paul Leslie is always willing to help us run a meet (his children have long retired from swimming and he still comes to almost every meet we run) came out again to support our novice program. It is always a pleasure working with Paul and I want to thank him for giving so much of his time and expertise to us.
Elsa was our officials coordinator and chief finish judge. Both jobs were done excellently and she save me so much time once the meet was over. Everything was perfect.
A big thank-you to our coaches who braved the chaos of a small deck, lots of swimmers and so much noise to ensure the first meet of the year was a positive experience for kids. I saw some pretty good swimming and that a testament to the hard work of the novice team.
Finally a huge shout out to our 2016-2017 novice team. Working hard and swimming fast is what it is all about and I hope each swimmer achieve his/her goals. Watching the future of HAC swim this weekend made all this worth it. GO HAC GO!!!!!!
I thank everyone again for their help and enthusiasm for this meet and look forward to working with you all again in March for our meet against OAKVILLE.
Have a good day everyone.
